Focus and Scope
Arumbae is an academic journal published by Graduate Program of UKIM (Indonesia Christian University in the Moluccas) twice a year: December and June. This journal is a peer-reviewed journal. It welcomes current original research on theological and religious studies with interdisciplinary perspectives.
Arumbae is a Moluccas sea transportation. It depicts notions of working together, recognition of autonomy, and connectivity among people to share and run life together.
Arumbae will be focus on researches of Theology and Religious studies in relation to nationalism context. Study of theology includes Biblical Hermeneutics, Systematical Theology, Contextual Theology, Theology of Pastoral, Missiology, Empirical-Practical Theology, and Church History. Religious studies relates to Historical, Sociological, Anthropological, Psychological Approaches of Religions, and Comparative Study of Religions. Nationalism covers issues on Pluralism, Multiculturalism, Politics, Law in relation to issues of nationalism.

Peer Review Process
The submitted manuscript is first reviewed by the editors and must be free from plagiarism contents. The maximum limit of similarity is 20%. The submitted manuscript will be evaluated, whether it is suitable for our focus and scope or has a major methodological flaw.
At least two peer-reviewers will review every submitted paper. Reviewers are unaware of the authors' identity, and authors are also unaware of the identity of reviewers (double-blind review method). Reviewing process will consider novelty, objectivity, method, scientific impact, conclusion, and references. Reviewers' comments are then sent to the corresponding author for necessary actions and responses. The suggested decision will be evaluated in an editorial board meeting. Afterward, the editor will send the final decision to the corresponding author.

Arumbae: Jurnal Teologgi dan Studi Agama is a Journal published online biannually in December and June.
Open Access Policy
This journal is an open-access journal that provides immediate, worldwide, barrier-free access to the full text of all published articles without charging readers or their institutions for access. Readers have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of all articles in the ARUMBAE: Jurnal Ilmiah Teologi dan Studi Agama. This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Section A: Publication and authorship
- All submitted papers are subject to a strict peer-review process by at least two international reviewers that are experts in the area of the particular article.
- The review process is a blind peer review.
- The factors that are taken into account in the review are relevance, soundness, significance, originality, readability, and language.
- The possible decisions include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection.
- If authors are encouraged to revise and resubmit a submission, there is no guarantee that the revised bid will be accepted.
- Rejected articles will not be re-reviewed.
- The paper acceptance is constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
- No research can be included in more than one publication.
Section B: Authors’ responsibilities
- Authors must certify that their manuscripts are their original work.
- Authors must certify that the manuscript has not previously been published elsewhere.
- Authors must certify that the manuscript is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere.
- Authors must participate in the peer-review process.
- Authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.
- All Authors mentioned in the paper must have significantly contributed to the research.
- Authors must state that all data in the paper are real and authentic.
- Authors must notify the Editors of any conflicts of interest.
- Authors must identify all sources used in the creation of their manuscript.
- Authors must report any errors they discover in their published paper to the Editors.
Section C: Reviewers’ responsibilities
- Reviewers should keep all information regarding papers confidential and treat them as privileged information.
- Reviews should be conducted objectively, with no personal criticism of the author
- Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments
- Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
- Reviewers should also call to the Editor in Chief’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
- Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
Section D: Editors’ responsibilities
- Editors have complete responsibility and authority to reject/accept an article.
- Editors are responsible for the contents and overall quality of the publication.
- Editors should always consider the needs of the authors and the readers when attempting to improve the publication.
- Editors should guarantee the quality of the papers and the integrity of the academic record.
- Editors should publish errata pages or make corrections when needed.
- Editors should have a clear picture of the research’s funding sources.
- Editors should base their decisions solely one the papers’ importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the publication’s scope.
- Editors should not reverse their decisions nor overturn the ones of previous editors without serious reason.
- Editors should preserve the anonymity of reviewers.
- Editors should ensure that all research material they publish conforms to internationally accepted ethical guidelines.
- Editors should only accept a paper when reasonably sure.
- Editors should act if they suspect misconduct, whether a paper is published or unpublished, and make all reasonable attempts to persist in obtaining a resolution to the problem.
- Editors should not reject papers based on suspicions; they should have proof of misconduct.
- Editors should not allow any conflicts of interest between staff, authors, reviewers, and board members.
Retraction
The papers published in the ARUMBAE: Jurnal Ilmiah Teologi dan Studi Agama will be considered retracted in the publication if :
- They have clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g., data fabrication) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error)
- The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper crossreferencing, permission, or justification (i.e., cases of redundant publication)
- it constitutes plagiarism
- it reports unethical research

Correction and Retraction Policies
The ARUMBAE: Jurnal Ilmiah Teologi dan Studi Agama is committed to upholding the integrity of the literature and publishes Errata, Expressions of Concerns or Retraction Notices dependent on the situation and by the COPE Retraction Guidelines. Policy of Screening for Plagiarism
Papers submitted to the ARUMBAE: Jurnal Ilmiah Teologi dan Studi Agama will be screened for plagiarism using CrossCheck/iThenticate plagiarism detection tools. ARUMBAE: Jurnal Ilmiah Teologi dan Studi Agama will immediately reject papers leading to plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
Before submitting articles to reviewers, those are first checked for similarity/plagiarism tool by a member of the editorial team. The papers presented to the ARUMBAE: Jurnal Ilmiah Teologi dan Studi Agama must have a similarity level of less than 20 %.
Plagiarism exposes another person’s thoughts or words as though they were your own, without permission, credit, or acknowledgement, or because of failing to cite the sources properly. Plagiarism can take diverse forms, from literal copying to paraphrasing the work of another. To accurately judge whether an author has plagiarized, we emphasize the following possible situations:
- An author can copy another author’s work- by copying word by word, in whole or in part, without permission, acknowledging or citing the source. This practice can be identified by comparing the source and the manuscript/work suspected of plagiarism.
- Substantial copying implies that an author can reproduce a significant part of another author without permission, acknowledgement, or citation. The actual term can be understood both in terms of quality and quantity, being often used in intellectual property. Condition refers to the relative value of the copied text in proportion to the work as a whole.
- Paraphrasing involves taking ideas, words, or phrases from a source and crafting them into new sentences within the writing. This practice becomes unethical when the author does not properly cite or acknowledge the original work/author. This form of plagiarism is the more severe form to be identified.
Withdrawal of Manuscripts
The author is not allowed to withdraw submitted manuscripts because the withdrawal is a waste of valuable resources that editors and referees spent a great deal of time processing submitted manuscripts and works invested by the publisher.
If the author still requests withdrawal of his/her manuscript when the manuscript is still in the peer-reviewing process, the author will be punished by paying 500.000 IDR per document as a withdrawal penalty to the publisher. However, it is unethical to withdraw a submitted manuscript from one journal if accepted by another journal.
The withdrawal of the manuscript after the manuscript is accepted for publication; the author will be punished by paying 1.000.000 IDR per document. Removal of paper is only allowed after the withdrawal penalty has been fully paid to the Publisher. If the author doesn't agree to pay the death, the author and his/her affiliation will be blacklisted for publication in this journal. Even his/her previously published articles will be removed from our online system.
Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Includes But is Not Limited to:
- Refer and/or quoting terms, words and/or sentences, data and/or information from a source without citing sources in the record citation and/or without stating the source adequately;
- Refer and/or quoting random terms, words and/or sentences, data and/or information from a source without citing a source in the record citation and/or without stating the source adequately;
- Using a source of ideas, opinions, views, or theory without stating the source adequately;
- Formulate the words and/or sentences themselves from the source of words and/or phrases, ideas, opinions, views, or theory without stating the source adequately;
- Submit a scientific paper produced and/or published by others as sources of scientific work without being express adequately.
Prevention
ARUMBAE: Jurnal Ilmiah Teologi dan Studi Agama will ensure that every published article will not exceed 20% similarity score. Plagiarism screening will be conducted by ARUMBAE: Jurnal Ilmiah Teologi dan Studi Agama using Turnitin.
Sanctions
- Reprimand;
- Letter of warning;
- Revocation of the article;
- Cancellation of publication
