Ambon City has considerable agricultural potential; hower, limited and uneven water availability remains a major challenge for irrigation development, particularly in dry and hilly areas. As the capital of Maluku Province, Ambon experiences increasing pressure on water resources due to topographic conditions and seasonal rainfall variabillity. This study focuses on Siwang Hamlet. Urimessing District, located at an altitude of approximately 518 m above sea level and categorized as a water-prone agricultural area. The objective of this research is to design a drip irrigation system as an efficient solution to meet crop water requriements under limited water conditions. Crop water requirement analysis was conducted using CROPWAT 8.0 software based on climatological data from the Pattimura Ambon Meteorological Station (BMKG) and supported by direct field observations. Pakcoy (Brassica rapa) cultivated on a 1-hectare plot was selected as the study crop. The results indicated that the daily water requirement of pakcoy plants is 0.0974 liters per plant. The design system operates wit an emitter drip rate of 13.33 mm per hour and requires an irrigation duration of 28.8 minutes per day. The irrigation network consists of 1.5-inch PVC main pipes with a total length of 152 m and 0.5-inch tap emitters extending 2,004 m. The results demonstrated that drip irrigation is suitable and water-efficient solution for agriculture in water-scarce area.References
