The area of Pembina Teluk Baguala Kindergarten and Tihu Village residential, located along Jalan Ir. M. Putuhena, Ambon City, has experienced significant drainage problems due to flooding. This phenomenon occurs when the drainage system is unable to accommodate inflow due to reduced channel capacity or increased surface flow volume. This study uses hydrological and hydraulic analysis to evaluate the adequacy of the existing drainage system in accommodating peak flow under certain rainfall conditions. The analysis results show that the main drainage channel, with a length of 90 m, has a design capacity of approximately 3.00 m³/s. The peak flow rate (Q) calculated based on observation conditions is 1.66 m³/s. These findings indicate that, under certain rainfall scenarios, the main channel still has sufficient capacity to drain surface runoff without overflowing. However, field observations show that some local (secondary) drainage channels have decreased capacity. Although the main drainage infrastructure is capable of accommodating the specified flow rate, deficiencies in the secondary network in local areas compromise the overall effectiveness of the system. The findings of this analysis are expected to provide valuable information and insights that will support improvements to the drainage network system at the location.References
