Natural disasters such as floods and landslides that occur in almost all areas of Maluku in the period 2012-2013 felt increasingly increasing, both the frequency of the incident and the victims and the resulting consequences. As a result of the flood natural disasters caused damage to water resources infrastructure and facilities including dike embankments, landslides and floods that inundated settlements, agricultural land and other public facilities. One of the rivers in Ambon city that often experience flood problem is Wai Batu Gajah river. This study aims to find out how much the capacity of Wai Batu Gajah River in accommodating the flow of water during the maximum rainfall, as well as looking for solutions to the overflow of water from the river.
The method used in this research is hydrological analysis to find big discharge plan by using Rational method, as well as hydraulic analysis using Hec-Ras software to know capacity of Wai Batu Gajah river.
Based on the research, the 50 year plan discharge is 483.79 m3 / s. The results of simulation using the software Hec-Ras obtained some points on the river channel Wai Batu Gajah can not accommodate the discharge plan 50-year period, so that the dike on the side of the river to prevent the occurrence of water runoff into the environment around the river.
