Abstract


Ambon as the capital of Maluku province has also many office, educational and commercial business activities. With this activity, it is necessary to have road infrastructure that connects to the activity center. The problem that is often encountered in urban transportation is traffic congestion, both on roads and at intersections. The intersection is one of the meeting places for road sections and functions as a place for vehicles to change direction of movement. However, the varying levels of movement of various types of vehicles result in considerable travel delays at the intersection – Jalan Pattimura -Jln Rijali -Jln Sirimau -Jln Achmad Yani, indicating that traffic conditions are quite dense, resulting in traffic conflicts at this intersection, because it is necessary to think about solving the problem at this intersection. This study aims to evaluate the performance level of the intersection, the current operational nonsignalized intersection at this four-arm intersection. The calculation method uses the Indonesian road capacity manual method (MKJI 1997). The operational work level of the intersection is no longer able to serve properly. Traffic flow distribution surveys are conducted at five-minute intervals to determine peak hour periods. Based on survey results and calculations, peak hours are obtained on Monday 17 January 2022 at 17.00 - 18.00. The results of the performance evaluation of the current condition of the intersection are no longer effective in providing good service, with the amount of incoming traffic flow at the intersection of 2200 pcu/hour and a capacity of 2419 pcu/hour and a degree of saturation of 0.90, then the traffic delay that occurs is 33 seconds/pcu and the probability of queues between 64% , as well as the level of service E
