Planning a building construction required planners to design buildings that are economical and safe. Excess steel in a building construction that is faster workmanship. This is the basis for a cost comparison review between steel structure buildings and reinforced concrete buildings at the Pattimura Ambon Farm and Forestry Laboratory building, which initially uses reinforced concrete. The purpose of this plan is to design the Pattimura Ambon Laboratory of Animal Husbandry and Forestry Building with steel structure and to compare the cost between steel construction with which concrete is more efficient. The calculation of steel structures is referred to as the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method and the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) to design steel profiles. Analyze unit price using SNI 2016 to calculate plan of cost budget of steel and concrete work. The results of steel construction planning at the Animal Husbandry and Forestry Laboratory building at Pattimura University in Ambon used WF steel profiles for beams and columns with steel profile dimensions (beam G1 = 350x175x7x11), (beam G2 = 450x200x9x14), (beam G3 = 500x200x10x16), (beam G4 = 600x200x11x17), (columns C1 = 250x250x9x14), and (column C2 = 200x200x8x12). The budget plan for steel works is more expensive than reinforced concrete work with a cost comparison of Rp. 17,733,486,159.06 for steel works and Rp. 12,457,237,584.44 for reinforced concrete work. The difference between the price of steel and reinforced concrete is Rp. 5,276,248,304.61 with a percentage price of 0.42%References
