Abstract
This research examines the vision and role of the Muslim community in Wayame Village in building tolerance and cooperation with the Christian community to maintain peace during the Maluku conflict happened and now after the Maluku conflict passes. This study employs a descriptive-qualitative approach through field research with data collection techniques including interviews, participatory observation, and questionnaires administered to Muslim religious and community leaders. The findings indicate that the Muslim community and Christian community in Wayame successfully maintain a remarkably good relationship and are not provoked by the broader conflict escalation. The primary factors are the strategic role of local leaders from the both communities in forming a Social Reconciliation Team (Tim 20) to manage emerging issues and the Muslim community’s conscious decision to reject external influences and adhere to Islamic teachings on tolerance (tasamuh). Forms of cooperation are manifested in joint security, community service, and regular dialogues. It is concluded that the Muslim community's strong attitude of tolerance, reinforced by proactive local leadership, is foundational for effective cooperation with the Christian community in preserving social integrity positioning Wayame as a significant model for reconciliation.
