Abstract

ABSTRACT This research explores the dynamics of work conflict and the experiences of young lecturers at the Faculty of Health, Indonesian Christian University in The Moluccas (UKIM), with a focus on how the specific characteristics of young lecturers interact with the challenges of the academic environment to influence the dynamics of these conflicts. Using a qualitative approach and case study design, in-depth interviews were conducted with young lecturers to explore their subjective experiences in dealing with conflict. Findings show that conflict at the UKIM Faculty of Health often arises in the form of interpersonal friction and disagreements regarding work processes, which can escalate into open tension. The roots of the conflict are found in the high ambitions and expectations of young lecturers who are faced with the reality of competition in a stressful academic environment and multi-role workload. The experience of facing conflict is colored by negative emotions such as stress and frustration, while the strategies taken tend to be avoidance or compromise. This research provides important insights for human resource management in academic environments, as well as recommendations for creating a more collaborative work environment and supporting the career development of young lecturers.
