Abstract

ABSTRACT The use of coins as a means of transaction has decreased in people's lives, especially in rural areas. This study aims to analyze the perception of the Keilobar Village community towards the interest in using coins in daily transactions. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through a questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using linear regression analysis to measure the relationship between public perception and interest in using coins. The results of the study show that the majority of people have a negative perception of coins due to practicality factors, small nominal values, and lack of awareness of their function as a legal tender. Most respondents prefer paper money because it is considered more efficient and easy to use in transactions. However, there is a small portion of the community who still maintain the use of coins for transactions with small denominations. This study provides insight for related parties, such as Bank Indonesia and local governments, to improve education and socialization regarding the importance of coins in the financial system. The implications of this study also highlight the need for innovation in payment systems that can accommodate the needs of the community more efficiently.

Keywords: Public perception, interest in use, coins, financial transactions, Keilobar Village.
