Abstrak

Sea transportation plays a crucial role as the main mode of connectivity within the Indonesian archipelago, particularly in island regions such as Maluku. One of the strategic routes in this region is the Tulehu- Haria route, which connects Ambon Island and Saparua Island. This route is served by two primary modes of sea transportation, namely fast boats and speed boats, each offering different service characteristics related to safety, security, comfort, reliability, cleanliness, accesibility, travel time, and cost. These variations significantly influence passengers mode choice, determine the probability of selecting each transportation mode, and compare passenger priorities between fast boats and speedboats. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is applied to evaluate and prioritize the decision criteria and available alternatives. The results indicate that safety is most influential criterion with weight of 24%, followed by other service-related criteria. Overall, fast boats are prefered than speed boats by passengers on this route. These findings provide useful insights for improving service quality and supporting decision-making in sea transportation planning on the Tulehu-Haria route.
