Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration for publication in another journal.
  • All authors have read, approved, and made significant contributions to the manuscript.
  • The manuscript has been prepared in accordance with the official journal template and the latest author guidelines.
  • The manuscript is written in proper academic English.
  • The manuscript title is clear, concise, informative, and reflects the substance of the study.
  • Citations and references follow the journal’s prescribed reference style, namely APA (American Psychological Association) Style, 7th Edition.
  • At least 80% of the references are derived from primary sources published within the last 10 years.
  • Authors have used reference management software (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or similar applications) to ensure citation consistency.
  • The manuscript has undergone plagiarism screening and complies with the journal’s similarity index policy.
  • Research involving humans or animals has obtained ethical approval from an authorized ethics committee, and the ethical clearance number has been stated in the manuscript.
  • Authors have declared any conflict of interest and research funding sources.
  • The manuscript file has been prepared in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).
  • Authors understand that the editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the journal’s focus and publication standards.

Author Guidelines

Karya Kesehatan Siwalima accepts several types of manuscripts as follows:

1. Research and conceptual articles (maximum 9,000 words), which present conceptual frameworks and programs related to community development in the health sector, public health services, community empowerment, health outreach, and community-based action research.

2. Review articles (maximum 6,000 words), which comprehensively summarize the literature on issues related to community service in the health sector or community engagement programs in health.

3. Case-based articles (maximum 5,000 words), which focus on the practice of community service in the health sector and highlight techniques, methodologies, and evaluations of community-based health programs.

Language of Manuscript

Manuscripts must be written in English. Any local or non-English terms must be clearly defined and accompanied by appropriate English translations.

Submission of Manuscript

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s OJS system.

Authors are required to:

1. Log in to the journal website

2. Upload documents in accordance with the provided templates

Required files:

1. Manuscript (Template) – DOCX → File name: Manuscript_Title

2. Title Page (Template) – DOCX → File name: TitlePage_Title

Journal Publishing Agreement

Authors are required to agree to the Journal Publishing Agreement at the time of submission, which includes:

1. Confirmation of the originality of the work

2. Copyright ownership

3. Disclosure of any conflicts of interest

Copyright remains with the authors; however, the journal retains exclusive rights to publish and distribute the article.

Preparing the Manuscript

1. Title Page

The Title Page must include:

  • Article title
  • Author names
  • Affiliations (institution, city, country)
  • Corresponding author’s email
  • Acknowledgments
  • Funding sources
  • Conflict of interest statement
  • ORCID ID

2. Full Manuscript

The manuscript must not contain any author-identifying information (double-blind review).

Required structure:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction (background of the community issue)
  • Methods (design of the community service activity)
  • Results and Impact (outcomes and impact on the community)
  • Discussion (analysis and program relevance)
  • Conclusion
  • References

Technical Format

  • Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • 1.5 line spacing
  • A4 paper size
  • Maximum file size: 2 MB

Article Title

  • Maximum 15 words
  • Clear and representative of the community health service activity

Abstract and Keywords

  • 150–250 words
  • Maximum of 5 keywords
  • Must include:
    • Community background
    • Objective of the activity
    • Methods of implementation
    • Results and impact
    • Conclusion

SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)

Authors are required to specify the relevant SDGs addressed in the manuscript, for example:

  • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)
  • SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)
  • SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities)

Figures and Tables

  • Must be embedded within the manuscript
  • Must follow the journal template
  • Upon acceptance:
    • Figures must be submitted in .jpg format (300 dpi)
    • Tables must be submitted in editable format (not as images)

References

References must follow the APA Style (7th edition), be arranged alphabetically, and prioritize sources published within the last 5–10 years.
