Peer Review Process
Editorial Assessment
All manuscripts submitted to Karya Kesehatan Siwalima undergo an initial editorial assessment conducted by the Editor-in-Chief and members of the Editorial Board. The purpose of this stage is to evaluate the manuscript’s suitability for the journal prior to peer review.
The assessment focuses on:
- Relevance to the aims and scope of the journal
- Originality and scientific contribution
- Compliance with the author guidelines and journal formatting requirements
- Ethical considerations and research integrity
- Clarity of language and academic writing quality
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal standards or fall outside the journal scope may be rejected without external review. In some cases, authors may be requested to revise the manuscript before it proceeds to the peer-review stage. Authors can generally expect an initial editorial decision within 1–2 weeks after submission.
Peer Review Process
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are assigned to at least one or two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.
Karya Kesehatan Siwalima implements a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process to ensure objectivity and fairness.
Reviewers are invited to evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including:
- Scientific quality and methodological rigor
- Novelty and contribution to knowledge
- Relevance to healthcare and nursing sciences
- Ethical standards and validity of findings
- Organization, clarity, and quality of presentation
Reviewers are expected to complete their evaluations within 2–4 weeks after accepting the review invitation. The reviewers’ recommendations may include:
- Accept without revision
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
Authors receiving revision requests are required to submit a revised manuscript along with a detailed response to reviewers’ comments within the specified revision period.
Decision-Making Process
The final decision regarding publication is based on the recommendations of the reviewers and the evaluation of the editorial team. Acceptance for publication generally requires favorable recommendations from at least two reviewers.
If conflicting recommendations are received, the Editor may assign the manuscript to an additional reviewer for further evaluation. The Editor-in-Chief has full authority to make the final decision on manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection, based on the reviewers’ comments, editorial considerations, and the journal’s publication standards.
